Why hello everyone, I've been turning on and off for about 10 years. I also do a bit woodwork and rebuild woodworking machines. I mainly do wadkin machines which I have a bit of a reputation for doing. A few of my rebuilds have gone to america, new zealand, canada and a couple to australia. I'm from England by the way. For me half the fun is the machines. The last machine I rebuilt was for myself and it was a wadkin RU which is the second biggest lathe they made off the shelf.



I have always been interested in ornamental turning and had a chance to buy a few lathes a while back. A couple of Holtzapffels a goyen and an unknown one which I'm restoring now. The owner did some research and believes it may be linked to boyd or goyen. This is one part which I just finished.

That lathe looks HUGE and HEAVY. How do you move such a thing? Fork lift and big roll-up doors?

Just a pump truck, when I bought it I put everything but the headstock in my car and used a pump truck and engine hoist to get it out and into my workshop.

Just a vw transporter, I think you guys would call it a mini van, its a 8 seater. I took all the seats out except the drivers of coarse. It drove really well.

Ah, that makes sense. I have trucks and trailers and use those.

A friend has a van and removed all the seats. She uses it to transport llamas. I also store hay for her and she can haul at least 30 "square" bales at once.
