Just got my 1st lathe a Jet 1221, will be picking it up this weekend. I have some woodworking experience with making boxes and other larger wood projects but have never a used a wood lathe before. Looking forward to getting started turning. Looking for classes in my area (CT) but have been watching a LOT of you tube videos.
My other hobby is antique cars current projects are a 1930 Nash 8 and a 1967 MGB GT.

Welcome. I find it to be a delightful rabbit hole. I commend you on your decision to look for classes. Some of the videos on YT are unsafe. One path to training is a local woodturning club. According to the AAW website there are three clubs in CT. Often clubs have training and mentoring programs. In addition, membership to the national organization (AAW) entitles you to access to a library of articles and videos that are all reviewed for safety.
