Hello everybody, my name is Matt, I'm 43 and I am in central NC. I'm on disability from a motorcycle accident back in '05. Brand new turner, just picked up a used HF10x33. Practicing between centers on a wet maple limb and learning to use the tools. Now just starting the long journey of accumulating the other stuff I need (chucks, face plates, drill chucks etc.) I absolutely love this, seeing your creation evolve from a rough chunk of wood into a smooth round form.

Welcome aboard, Matt. When the turning bug bites the only known treatment is to buy more turning stuff. We have a great support group here to help you along the path of learning to love making round wooden things. 
Once you master the art of turning things round on a lathe you usually end up trying to turn projects out of round on a lathe.
Welcome aboard Matt. Turning between centers is always the safest way to start and even later on may be one of the best ways. Find a club and start asking questions and observing. Should be lots of good clubs near you.
