Spent a few weeks here in Brownsville, TX and was fortunate to come across a tree trimmer that had more mesquite available than I can haul with our 5th wheel.

It’s been several months since I’ve seen my lathe. Looking forward to getting this home and processed into bowl blanks :)

absolutely my favorite wood. need to take a trip to South Texas this summer. I'm all out! for those in Texas, there is a great source for Mesquite in Bastrop County Berdoll Saw Mill is a great place.

Like others - my favorite. If you haven't already split it all and have the tools you may want to consider some hollow forms/vases out of some. It makes beautiful vases, especially if there are some inclusions.

Hey if you are still down there, look for texas ebony. It only grows way down south texas, east and west then into mexico. So you have to be way down there if you are going to get any. It's really great stuff, super hard, super black, super white sapwood that sometimes swirls through the heartwood like cream in coffee.
