Well first off, bunch of friendly people. About 12 members. It was a little ironic as I've been turning about a couple dozen pens lately and was hoping to get to learn something different. They had a demonstration today and it turned out to be pen turning. Lol Anyway, after the demo, I met with a couple guys that gave me some pointers on returning back to my small candydish bowl that I'm wanting to finish. They also had a raffle and I won three 12" Box Elder pen blanks. That was a nice plus! So it looks like I'm going to join the chapter and have some fun.

Good! Box elder is beautiful and is my wife's favorite. I'll take them if yo don't want them. lol You will find a lot of helpful members there. I joined AAW and a local chapter, never regretted the investment which is what I consider it to be.
In addition, allow me to suggest www.penturners.org as a website that specializes in penturning, as the name suggests.

Now I see why your wife loves this wood John. I couldn't wait to go ahead and turn a pen with one of the blanks.
