I am trying to figure out what this wood is. Based on end grain it is not chestnut, bloodwood, padauk, redwood, Pau rosa, jatoba. I usually can figure out from the wood database end grain, but haven’t found anything to match.
pictures are end grain 10X and face grain, one side sprayed with lacquer.
Where did you get the wood, if that flat panel is the only piece you have it may have come from a piece of furniture and if the country of origin can be determined then maybe the species can be determined.

I bought a lot of exotics from a turner that was no longer able to turn. There were several exotic boards such as yellowheart, purpleheart, red heart, padauk, bubinga, just to name a few. some had labels, but this one did not. I doubt it was from any furniture wood.
Two of the best wood identifiers on the internet, including the one behind The Wood Database are members of Woodbarter.com. There’s no cost for woodworkers to join that forum If you want to repost your ID question over there for a second opinion. Note you’ll need to submit an introduction posts the forum moderators know your not a bot.
If you get an positive ID then post back to this thread so others can learn here.
Thanks for the suggestions. Photos of end grain from the Wood Database. Of the two I am thinking the end grain best matches Tiete Rosewood because of the cross lines. But I am not 100%.
