This is for Bill, I told him I would post it. I made this piece in 1997 when I was just starting to play with surface embellishment. I had just bought an angle grinder and used one of the flap discs to make the slices. It was probably one of my first conceptual pieces as well. I designed it back when they first started having us take those sexual harrasment courses at work.
The fun part was cutting the slate that I had picked up off the lake shore. I use my table saw and a jig to hold the stone. I had an abrasive cutter on. Being as smart as I am (yea right) I thought boy this is going to create a lot of dust even with my dust collector on the saw. So I rigged up my shop vac right next to the blade. I was so proud of myself as I made the cut and watched the dust being sucked into the shop vac. Well apparently the dust was too fine for the shop vac filter and it blew it out the exhaust port all over the shop. What a mess.

Well, dating is the chase, something about expanding the DNA pool, I wonder if a boomerang was an improved version, or just a necessity as we continued to.....what......I will use John's words......."dating service"
 
I think if I was going to use it for its intended purpose I would want it to be a lot longer!! :)

But I admire your courage
 
The late comedian, W. C. Fields, was not known to be sympathetic to the female species. He was very exclusive in his ideas of women in country clubs, golf courses, taverns or night clubs (of which he was a frequent visitor), etc. He was at a Hollywood party and was asked by one of the ladies, "Mr. Fields, I understand that you don't approve of clubs for women." He replied, "My dear, only when all else fails."
