need identification of this tool

Got this with a lathe purchased from an estate sale. I saw it somewhere related to turning but can't recall. Could someone share a link to where I can see what it is for?

I believe it's part of a sphere cutting jig. The cutter must be missing.

It is probably a chuck holder used to carve or decorate a piece still on a chuck. You might need the the pice that go into the holder ends with the thread for your chuck.

It's a carving stand as Sergio said. The part that is missing is the part with the chuck threads, but I bet that you could find one at Best Wood Tools.
