These look very nice and not a bad price for a Stainless Steel chuck.

New Axminster Chucks

Not sure anything is new. Looks like the renamed the Clubman SK100 ro Discovery GK100, and the Evolution SK100 to Discovery SK100. Guessing the 88 was name Clubman SK88 and now Discovery GK88. Prices on the Axminster web site are lower than the older chucks, but all the chucks show out of stock.
They are quite different. These are not Direct Threaded chucks like the old ones. They have a front fixing thread adapter. Other manufacturers use a threaded adapter, which from my own experience (perhaps I was unlucky?) didn’t run perfectly true. Once again though these are made from Stainless steel unlike the recent SK88.
Definitely a step in the right direction in my view and the prices look very competitive.

That is correct. I now see the differences. They just look the same.
I wonder if the front fixing would eliminate any tilt? I have a Record Power chuck with inserts. It uses a single grub screw to hold the insert in place. I've always wondered if that causes a slight bit of tilt when its tightened enough to prevent slippage. With four screws on the front, you would be able to eliminate any tilt in the inserts...
This is one of the backplates for the new chucks. The concept isn’t new. One of my engineering chucks uses a backplate.
Ah, its an entire backplate, not just an insert. Still, four screws from the front should help keep it tilt-free. Inserts with a single set screw, do make me wonder. I don't think it deflects a lit, but for longer things, it can matter.
I had a Record Power chuck with a threaded insert and it didn’t run true. After that I only bought direct threaded chucks. I wouldn’t hesitate to get one of these new Axminster chucks though.
