I was going through my shed and found a lot of lumber I have had for 40+ years. Holly, Ebony, Purple Heart, Cherry and Wenge. Most of it was 4 or 6 quarter. I decided that since I will turn 80 soon, I should do something with it. One product I have never sold,( I don't know why ) are French Rolling Pins, All this wood would be perfect. The pins are easy to make and are limited only by my imagination. I made about 20 and will post how they sold. I'm going to price them at $50.

Nice looking pieces. They should sell well.
I made 7 of those - my neighbor and good friend brought over wood and a sketch and asked me to make him 4 ( wife and 3 daughters).
I made 5 adding one for my wife.
Done that. Except the ladies next door and across the street were over at my neighbor’s house saw the rolling pins.
So two more.

Actually, getting straight sides and a good cut on a long thin piece is harder than one might expect. Good for you--20 of them is an impressive production. You might consider different pricing on the exotic wood ones compared to the domestics.

The preferences for 'French' style, well, all styles of rolling pins are highly varied, as are size and weight. The 'French' style I am used to is a straight taper from the center to the end. Every thing from a straight cylinder to tapered, to handles, both one piece, and roller handles. Square ends, slightly rounded ends. Not sure if I would use Wenge though. It has a lot of open pores, and the splinters from that will reach out and stick in you if you get too close to it.....
