Just a heads up to anyone looking at the Jet 1642, I called Woodcraft to order mine yesterday & not only will I get the 200.00 mail in rebate, I'll also get a gift certificate for 10% of the price from Woodcraft if I bought before Monday (11/27). I bought. Almost 400.00 off, pretty good deal I guess. I'm happy, got a new lathe to pick up the week between Christmas & New Years. Anyway, thought I'd pass it on. :)

Greg,
Be sure to hold on to original UPC codes (bar codes). I bought mine at the Unicoi symposim. It was a demo lathe and I never saw the boxes. Therefore no UPC codes therefore no rebate.

You should be very happy happy with that machine.

I've used one quite often. It is basically the 20" powermatic painted white and a bit lighter.

With a 16" swing it is big enough for most bowls and hollow forms.
