New shape on gouge

I have a "long and strong" Ashley Isle, shallow flute chisel. Can it be shaped into a big spindle gauge??
If it is similar to the long and strong I have by another manufacture
Yes but it wouldn’t be as usable as a spindle gouge because of the long tool and long handle.

When I do spindle work I like the handle to move back and forth in front of my body.
Easy with a short tool. I don’t want a long tool.

Roughing is a job i can do with a long handled tool.
A shallow continental tool is great for roughing if you ride the bevel. No fun at all if you don’t ride the bevel.
