Hello there. I've been turning for about a year. I did the thing you probably aren't supposed to do and got a lathe before I knew what I was doing. I took a beginner class at Woodcraft when I realized I could hurt myself and to also learn technique. I have done mostly pens, small bowls, magic wands, etc. Basically anything I can give away.

A friend of a friend taught me how to make bowls using carbide tools and a bowl scraper, so I've been trying that. Lately I've also been trying bowl gouges and really liking them. It took me a long while to learn how to sharpen them, but I think I have it down now.

I purchased a Rikon 1824VSR recently, and I am loving it. I wanted the ability to turn larger bowls than my previous lathe, a Central Machinery 10x18 could accommodate.

My goblin hole workshop is in a walk-in crawlspace that has a concrete pad. It's small, but everything is on wheels, so it's not too bad.

I've recently discovered turning green wood and now I have a shelf full of bags of sawdust and once-turned bowls marinating for a bit. I'm looking forward to finishing them later this year. I now find myself eyeing logs on the side of the road, but my wife won't let me stop the car, lol.
