November Challenge?

Thanks for reminding me. I've been distracted for the last week by what started as just a simple task of replacing a worn-out kitchen sink faucet which has turned into a significant repair of water-logged and moldy particle board, plywood, drywall, and fiberglass insulation.

What we saw after removing the shelf liner (slime and swollen mushy particle board). We removed the sink and cabinet doors … foolishly hoping that the damage was confined to the area under the sink. The white particles are dried caulk from the sink.

Really hard-to-reach area. The space was too tight for my bulky Sawzall. Fortunately, my Fein MultiMaster tool was perfect for this nasty job.

Washing dishes required some improvising since the garbage disposal was AWOL. Most of the cabinet facing has been removed so that I can crawl into the mess.

The "Black Hole of Calcutta". Cleaning up this mess promises to be an unforgettable experience (that’s not brown paint).

Bill, I lined my “undersink” cabinet with FRP and caulked the inside corners with silicone. It continues to be a nice environment after 15 yrs. Don’t ask me why I did that but your situation is uncomfortably familiar. Anything involving fitting inside lower cabinets is going to be backbreaking, sawdust in your eyes and mouth, disgusting on so many levels and patience trying to the max!! To top it off, all your efforts will be hidden away behind doors or drawers; I enjoyed my undercounted time as you can tell, haha. Best of luck Brother!!

Nothing is ever as simple as it first appears!!! A truism .... especially as we get older it seems. :(
My body wouldn't allow me to even attempt that repair. Tough on the ego - since I've done all the repairs, installations, construction, remodeling, etc. on my home for about four (+) decades. The past 15 years I've had to ask for help or call a professional.

That just means your intelligence level has exceeded your physical skill level. I for one, will no longer do plumbing greater than a plunger, add climbing under the sink to that as well. We have better things to do!!
