I was looking through the Gallery this morning and couldn’t help noticing the bottoms of some of Odie’s bowls. The attention to detail is very impressive. I like to add a few rings sometimes to show I’ve made an attempt to finish off the base nicely but Odie’s are something else. Nice work Odie.

I’ll leave him to post a few pictures if he wants to, if not check out the gallery yourself.

Somehow I missed this thread......until now. :)

Lately, I've been working on adding an inventory number using an acrylic paint pen.

So far, so good.....but, you have to be really careful with the Beall buffing process to keep it pristine.....

Use the acrylic paint on bare wood, and the DO tends to seal it.....but, it does smear with the EEE and WD compounds.
The EEE is avoided entirely over the numbers, and the WD is used very sparingly. Carnauba stage is done as usual.

I often like to add some concentric rings with a three point tool, just to prove I took some effort in finish turning the item. Looking at picture one again, I think I’ll have to add a few more! 😆

Remounting something like a bowl to finish the base is quite straightforward. Some items though can be a bit more challenging, like this puzzle piece.
