Official Gifts to the Leaders of the G-8.

I was extremely honoured to receive a commission from the Government of Canada to create the official gifts for the world leaders at G-8 Summit just completed. I turned 20 pcs. of 7" x 18" locally-grown Maple bowls all of a similar shape and also 10pcs. 4" x 12" (from the cores).

The attached picture is of a Curly Maple presented to President Obama. Since they were presented as personal gifts from the Canadain Government, there were no presentation pictures taken at the event.

At the very least it put woodturning onto the world stage & yep, I do feel good about the work; I would never have got thru the process of drying green wood in 2 months without the input and help from fellow AAW member Taylor Ledden.
