Official Gifts to the Leaders of the G-8.

I was extremely honoured to receive a commission from the Government of Canada to create the official gifts for the world leaders at G-8 Summit just completed. I turned 20 pcs. of 7" x 18" locally-grown Maple bowls all of a similar shape and also 10pcs. 4" x 12" (from the cores).

The attached picture is of a Curly Maple presented to President Obama. Since they were presented as personal gifts from the Canadain Government, there were no presentation pictures taken at the event.

Congratulations! That's a pretty neat honor, and the bowl looks great.

On a side note, President Obama's bowl looks like it has a crack in the heart wood. Is that symbolic?:D
