Any new, interesting or otherwise can't live without tool I need to be looking at to quench this thirst for the "One tool away from greatness!" ???

If it were me, my list would be:
  • Trend or 3M facemask
  • Coring system
  • Vacuum chuck
If you are into hollow forms, I would highly recommend Trent Bosch's stabilizer and tools. I didn't buy his Visualizer, but will make one someday.

Just put a new hot water double boiler in the camper. It supplies heating to radiators and hot water to sinks and shower. That eliminated funds for woodturning tools for a while.

I have Trend, it's heavy and not well balanced. Good customer service however. I'd recommend the 3M, albeit pricey I suspect.

I'm really looking hard at the Peke Powercap as my next big shop purchase. When I turn dry walnut, cedar, or (yikes!) padauk, the dust just overwhelms all efforts to collect it, and my current masking situation is just not nearly enough. Beyond, that, I really think I need basically every tool on Cindy Drozda's page, then another grinder and different CBN wheels and platforms, etc., etc.

I’ve had the Peke Powercap for over a year now. I love it. Once you get used to it. You’ll use it all the time. Battery will run couple days in the shop. I did have to replace the Velcro strap that wraps around your chin. It just got sloppy from use. $18 bucks from Peke. I’ve had yet to change the replaceable filters up top. I just blow them off with air gun

Thanks, Dan-I got to see one in use at our Turning and Learning Center recently, and its owner/wearer was very happy with it.

I like the 3M just fine. It is pricy to acquire one. There are threads on here about how to piece one together for a price much more reasonable than retail. When health care facilities were divesting themselves of covid PPE, you could find the 3M units on Ebay for around $750. Have not looked recently though.

I had a gander at Ebay. How does this one measure up? I'm not familiar with all the 3M products and options.

Yes, the 300+ system comes with a cloth hood. The M-307 helmet is separate. There is more than one helmet that will work with the system, but I feel like the M-307 is the most comfortable and easy to use.
