The swinging arm-mounted control on the 2436 is not my favorite feature. I ditched the arm and put magnets on the back of the box so I can adjust the speed as well as start and stop the lathe while turning on either side of the headstock without reaching across the work.
The magnetic control box and remote start/ stop switch are shown mounted on the toolboard to the left of the lathe in the second photo. The first shows the main control on the lathe for inboard turning. The auxiliary on/off box will stay on the wall.
