Oneway tool caddy?

I am thinking about a place to store commonly used tools like chuck keys on my 2436, possibly a rimmed shelf with curved supports attached to the top of the headstock or a rack bolted to the end of the ways. Do you have any photos of examples on your lathe?

I don’t have a Oneway, but I think the shelf I use on my Robust may work. It uses the bolt holes for a bed extension to attach. Pics unloaded and with all the ‘stuff’ including two revolving tool racks…
All loaded up you can barely tell what’s going on, but it is a handy way to keep all the commonly used stuff handy.

Another take perhaps.
I made mine with wheels so I can have it closer or further away as needed. Also makes cleanup much easier as I can move it out of the way.

Where did you get that “hand wheel” for your Powermatic? I much prefer that style over the wheel shaped ones.

Mike, that was factory provided. If you have a Powermatic, you might could look at the parts breakdown for the 2014 and yours to see if it would cross over.

I just use magnets. My used 2436 came with the dust hood, so I have a lot of out of the way steel surface to attach things to. It would work equally well on the headstock face or outboard side (if you don’t have an extension mounted on that side). If you need a tray for more substantial accessories and do not have an outboard extension, I would use the outboard mounting holes to attach a tray at that level. If you put something over the top of the headstock, you will make it more difficult to change pulleys. I keep the majority of my accessories behind me in a 48” rolling toolbox which also serves as my grinder station.

Kevin, this isn't attached to my lathe but could easily be. It's a section of one of those shelving organizers, I think I got it at Lowes 6 or 8 years ago. It's a 1" wire grid shelf about 1'x2' in size. I like it because as you can see it holds a lot of stuff without having any specific spot that something has to be and because it's wire grid, most of the dust, shavings, etc fall through instead of piling up.

Thanks for all the responses. I have a rolling caddy and wall-mounted tool racks, so I'm just looking for a spot to put a few specific frequently used tools like chuck keys. I'll probably mount a tray to the top of the headstock or a small rack on the backside of it.

What about one or two of those HF 4” or 6” magnetic dishes / tray? ’Sticks’ to your headstock or wherever and keeps all those small things within it. It’s also pretty good at collecting dust and shavings

I have a piece of 2x6 about 3 feet long mounted behind the lathe body mounted on the swing arm post. It holds four chucks on wooden stubs , an assortment of drive centers and other odds & ends in holes drilled. Not a great photo, taken as screen shot from a video clip. Could take a better one if interested. Have been using for about 15 years. Gets a bit messy but I pull shavings off and vacuum up fine stuff.
