I had received many recommendations for a new lathe but were out of my (read that SWMBO) budget. Our chapter president recommended a Rikon 70-050VS as a great buy- on sale at a Georgia woodturning supplier. It has good reviews and carries a 5 year warranty. Looking forward to receiving it. Hope to get more into turning this year. Already spotted a piece of wood that was cut down by my wife's school.:D
Thanks to all for your replies. Probably be asking for more help later on.

John, thanks for your offer of help. I have some wood that has some turnings inside. I just need to remove everything that is not the turned peice.

John that's how I do it. However sometimes the piece inside is illusive and changes it's mind. Usually due to some problems it has with the gouge.
