Pecan weevils typically infest the nuts. However as I cut bowl blanks out of green log halves, I’m finding tunnels and a few grubs under bark areas in sap wood that look like pecan weevils. One bug looked like a wasp with a greenish hue on the tail which makes me wonder if these are larvae waiting to mature.. All infested wood has been removed from the blanks but what am i looking at?
 
I've got no clue about the critters, but I'd love to have that whole load of pecan. Pecan is one of my all-time favorites! Strongbwords considering I only ever turn a couple very small pieces. It's not native to my area. Even it if was full of holes and scars, I'd still love it.
 
A picture would help so much. Around me, powder post beetle is the major concern for infesting raw wood in sheds or outdoors. The holes seen with them is the exit hole. They bore long tunnels as the larvae grows. The holes aren’t much more than 1/16” diameter.
 
After a little research, I think the critters are Pigeon Tremex larva. aka Pigeon Horntail wasp.
