The Plumier foundation is well founded by some people who are really dedicated to ornamental turning. And it seems to be well funded for ensuring this art / craft continues moving forward. And Mark is right: look at the OTI.

In better times the OTI has had in the past a yearly symposium, I enjoyed the one I was able to attend.
