I just relocated my shop to my new house and I believe that the dial on the VFD got moved and the digital read out now shows 173. I seem to remember the number was much higher before the move. Does the number on the VFD digital readout matter? If so, what number should it read and how do I get it to read the "correct number"?

I called PM about a problem and he said the dial would not affect the VFD . It is my understanding from other posts here that you would have to enter the program mode to affect the machine and that is not a simple process of turning a dial. Maybe Bill will chime in soon and remove all doubt.

The VFD on the Powermatic 3520B requires a password to modify anything and also the potentiometer is disabled from the factory.

Like the others have said the control panel on the VFD is disabled by a software switch. The reason is that it can only have one control panel at a time ... The one on the headstock or the one on the VFD, but not both. The display can be set to show various parameters so I don't know the significance of what you see. If you really want to know, tech support should be able to answer your question much more authoritatively than anyone else could.
