Do you use it as extension for the main bed or attach it to the leg for outboard turning?
I'm thinking on the leg 'cause I do more bowls than I do long spindles and it could always be changed. What do other PM3520B owners do?

I have the 3520A so I can't attach it to the legs, Yet. I have mine attachted on the headstock side so it sits below the motor and basically out of the way until needed. What I would like to consider is notching the bed extension so that you don't actually have to remove the bolts to get it off. Just slip the notches over the head of the bolt and let it settle down. then tighten the bolts to lock it in place.
Then I plan on drilling the legs on the other end so I can attach it lower. The notched slots will let me quickly move it from extending the bed to making it a bowl bed. Anyone think this is possible.

Powermatic 3520B 18" Bed Extension

I've been told that that both the right and left legs of the 3520B are milled and drilled to accept the 18" bed extension. I have a 3520A model lathe and have been thinking about trying to find someone with a 3520B willing to swap legs. I would be using this set up for outboard turning. Has anyone tried or considered this?

John I'm going to win the lottery tonight so I'll probably just buy a machine shop and build my own lathe. :)

Swapping Legs

I have B model. I really enjoy the tool caddy. But I suppose tapping two holes and a trade with a good friend would be better than making him tap 3. :cool2:

John :)
