Being a poor typer and lazy speller, I have always typed messages in Word, let it do the spellcheck and capitalization, then copy and paste it into the message area. I can do this on most websites and when I am commenting on a gallery item on AAW. I cannot do it on this forum. Are my settings wrong, am I doing something wrong, or?

Works for me! But, it works better if you take an intermediate step -- paste it into Notepad and then copy the text in Notepad and paste here. The problem is that there is hidden formatting in Word that messes with the formatting software on this forum. Notepad will strip out all of the formatting.

This reply was done in Word, but sometimes it leaves wierd line spacing, etc.

You can type it in Word, but like Bill said, Word does some odd formatting. A better idea may be to install Google's spell checker and then you can type right in the window and do your spell checking also.

I have 2 Dictionarys right next to me. When I get stumped I check them. If the wife is close by I ask her. She works crossword puzzles and her memory is better than mine(for sure). GT

Thanks for the tips, I did this in Word and was able to copy-paste in to the message box. I could only do it with the ctrl-V command, for some reason Firefox will not let me use the right click method.

I agree with Steve Google is the way to go. Install the tool bar on your browser and use the spell checker.

I find that "Ispell" will correct my spelling directly in the response window on the "reply to thread" section. All you have to do is type your response and then right click and check "check spelling" in the drop down window. It will highlight misspelled word and suggest an alternative just like other programs. It will also check your spelling on other forums and other response windows. And, best of all, it's free. Just type "Ispell" into Yahoo and it will bring you to a page so you can download it to your computer. I've been using it for over a year now and like it a lot.
