I got a new inverter for my Powermatic 3520A. Got the parameters to plug into the inverter but every time I put something in it reads error??? Had this problem for 2 years now. Would really appreciate some help with this. Best would be someone in Wis that could come over and look at this. I live in St. Germain and would pay to have someone come over and fix this. All I have now is a 900# boat anchor, help.

I completely understand your frustration, as it took me a long time to get a replacement vfd to work. Once I discovered that the electrician had incorrectly wired the wall outlet, we at least got it to light up. Ultimately, 15 minutes with tech support from the VFD seller got it working. Since I was on-site doing the inputs on the parameters, I could follow along, and I believe the ultimate answer was setting the parameters for the A and B options for the speed controls with slightly different values from what I had done. The retailer normally charges a fee for 30 minutes of tech support, but I think he took pity on my sad tale of woe and did it for free. (Nice guys at VFDs.com)

One issue with Powermatics and replacing the VFD is you have to know if your VFD is going to require adding an additional wire between the controls and the VFD. Good help is available here, especially if you need to add the second wire:

Sorry to hear of the issues. Most of us are way too far away to come over, but some of the basic information such as inverter model etc. and what you have done for connections would allow for some good suggestions on things to change or try. I know that when my VFD on the same lathe went earlier this year, I replaced it with a new Delta VFD, even though it was not the cheapest option. Delta had a page where they converted the parameter setting from the old VFD to the new, and I found that it was straightforward to connect and program.

So please try to give some more info, and we can try to help from afar.

I can't remember for sure, but I think when I first tried to change mine, I was getting an error message until I realized it was locked. If it's from Powermatic, try entering 506 to unlock then try changing parameters.
