I decided I could do with another chuck for some upcoming projects. I wanted something a little smaller but couldn’t find anything direct threaded in M33 x 3.5mm, which has become something of a standard over here on even modest size lathes. The SC3 is on special offer at the moment - UK price £109 inc delivery, about 15% off. It’s a nice little chuck and I was quite surprised that the Base Jaws are wider than those of my Supernova 2. The Top, or Accessory Jaws I have both fit both chucks just fine. If you’re on a tight budget and an 88mm (3 1/2”) chuck fits the bill it may be worth seeing if it’s on offer in your area? It comes with standard Jaws, faceplate ring, wood screw and chuck key in a plastic storage box.

I have several RP as well as Tekantool chucks. They all work great but I find the RP chucks seemed to be machined a bit tighter with less slop on the jaw glides. Perhaps because as your picture shows, the glides are a bit beefier.

I find the increased size of the Record Power Base Jaws quite interesting. I say this as before they made their own chucks they used to import and sell Nova chucks. I guess when they decided to copy the Nova they increased the size for some reason?
