A while back the Woodturners Wonders sander of mine failed, and was replaced for free to my amazement. The old one went into a drawer for parts. Today I had the bright idea of making a freewheeling sander from it, which turned out to be a really simple job. I took all the screws out of the case, split it and removed everything except the chuck shaft and reassembled the case. Chucked a pad to it and tried it out, worked great!
