Dennis - I will be a "substitute Bob"...I too want to know how to do reverse turning of hollow forms. The use of drawbars and toggles....currently boggles.....my brain

Nope I was confused by term reverse turning. I thought it referred to reverse hollowing like Donald Derry.

Every time I see this thread it reminds me of the time I was giving a friends wife a ride to an appointment. She was searching for jobs and looked on my steering wheel and said Why does it say Resume' on your steering wheel. I told her that was my Cruise control. She wasn't the brightest cookie. But them every time I see this post I think Resume'

Well you didn't mention anything about that in your tip that I could see. But this sentence fragment got me thinking.... and I had to try it. I'm not sure if this is what you were talking about (since you didn't talk about it ) but...



This was a quickly thrown together test, some scrap oak with anti-slip pad for the toggle, and a 1/4-20 threaded rod. I think if I were to try it again, I'd want something better than that for the toggle. And not sure about larger hollow forms. But for smaller things where a vacuum chuck isn't practical - well it's one more thing in the tool box.

Messages in private conversations can’t be deleted by anybody. Have you searched the full listing of your conversations or just the recent ones in the drop down list?

Oh cool. I got confused because you had just posted a different tip on holding hollow forms/vases. Thanks for that link, your solution is quite a bit more refined than mine.

You may already be aware of this, but just in case, see the picture. At the bottom of the conversation drop-down list, click on "Show all".



The conversations are in reverse chronological order. If you don't know the date you can use your browser's Find on page utility and look for Bob.
