I would like to continue discussion with the Bob who contacted me recently about my posting in the Tips and Tutorials forum regarding the use of toggles and draw bars for reverse turning of hollow forms. Please contact me again through the "conversation" facility on this site.

Every time I see this thread it reminds me of the time I was giving a friends wife a ride to an appointment. She was searching for jobs and looked on my steering wheel and said Why does it say Resume' on your steering wheel. I told her that was my Cruise control. She wasn't the brightest cookie. Well you didn't mention anything about that in your tip that I could see. But this sentence fragment got me thinking.... and I had to try it. I'm not sure if this is what you were talking about (since you didn't talk about it :) ) but...

This was a quickly thrown together test, some scrap oak with anti-slip pad for the toggle, and a 1/4-20 threaded rod. I think if I were to try it again, I'd want something better than that for the toggle. And not sure about larger hollow forms. But for smaller things where a vacuum chuck isn't practical - well it's one more thing in the tool box.

We had a brief interchange and then the messages were deleted. I have no record of his last name.

Messages in private conversations can’t be deleted by anybody. Have you searched the full listing of your conversations or just the recent ones in the drop down list?

Bill, I have not found a way to search conversations. Am I missing the obvious?

You may already be aware of this, but just in case, see the picture. At the bottom of the conversation drop-down list, click on "Show all".

The conversations are in reverse chronological order. If you don't know the date you can use your browser's Find on page utility and look for Bob.
