Hello Everybody,

For some reason I had to do lots of thin and long work. (12 mm x 700 mm an 15 mm x 500 mm sticks) So I borrowed one Round Stick Planer and made 2 of them. The third one I made a video of. It is on Youtube now. I hope you like watching it...
Here it is:

I love it. I purchased a factory made one from Lee Valley for some 36" long 3/8" dowels I had to make. It left a really rough finish. I ended up building a jig for my router to do the same thing.

Yep, what john said. I saw that and bookmarked it last week, I have done several home-made dowel makers , and tried to come up with ways to cut block of wood to make a dowel maker based on a plane blade, but was frustrated until I came across your video and how you use the lathe to cut the holes (Now, Why did I never think of THAT!?) , and will be refining my own design a bit to use elements of yours.. once I can get my common 3/8 dowel size done, going to work on custom sized dowels I wanted to make (Such as 5/16, 3/16) plus less used 1/4 and 1/8 dowels (1/8 dowels to make hinged box lids)

Wonderful! Ron, you have a very appealing video presence and provide clear instructions.

And, kids, THIS is why we need an on-off button that's not on the headstock. Knuckle busters.
