Hello everyone! My name is Sal, i have just got into wood turning very recently after trying a friends lathe. i have jumped in feet first and am collecting all the tools and “things” needed for this awesome hobby. My first lathe just arrived, and will be put together very soon! I choose a Rikon 1420VSR, and couldnt be more excited. Hope to learn as much as i can here, and will be putting up some works in progress as i develop. Happy Turning to everyone!!!

Welcome, Sal. If you haven't already discovered www.turnawoodbowl.com, I highly recommend it. The temptation is to jump right in and start turning. However, a solid foundation before you ever step to the lathe will save you hours of frustration, and maybe even injury. I would suggest you watch at least 6-8 of Kent Weakley's intro videos before starting.
Welcome to the forum, You have some good advice above. Aclub will really be a boost plus you will find seasoned turners to answer your questions and give advise.
