I had to make a second vase. The first one will be for sale at the 4th of July fair. I had to make a second one for our local art gallery for a show going on at the same time.

Nice, Rusty. I like the color choices and the pattern. Be sure to clean up what looks like a friction burn on the mouth before taking it to the show. 
Thanks Tom. It isn’t finished yet. I will be turning a black ring to reduce the size of the opening. It will be glued in and will hide that.
Phew! That is a heck of a lot of detail! I can't imagine how much work that is. Are those vertical grooves burnt in, or were they cut some other way and colored in with stain or something?
They were burned in.

Here it is with the top ring done. Now it just needs a finish. I am thinking spray lacquer.
Yea it is finished. Five coats of spray lacquer.
You have immensely more patience than I think I could ever have, Rusty. Nicely done!
I can’t explain it. I tried doing some stippling and after 15 minutes it was driving me crazy. I can sit and work on the basket illusion for hours.
