Spalted Bowl

Hey Guys,
It has been awhile since I posted anything so I thought I was post a PIC of a spalted maple bowl that I just finished. 11" x 5". A very simple shape but IMHO when there is this much spalt in a peice I don't want to do much to the piece because my eye is busy enough. The line in the shape dies in my opinion I should have caught when I was turning the peice. I sanded with my Blue Micro Discs and buffed on the Beal Buff.

Did you use aything to stabilize the grain so it would cut cleanly? I'm looking for a product cheaper than super glue. Thanks John Wells

John, you might want to take a look at the following thread. It included a discussion of what some of us use on soft/punky wood. I personally prefer the lacquer sanding sealer.
