Straight lines in nature?

I don’t expect to see any straight lines when working with trees. This piece surprised me with a perfectly straight crack. It’s end grain oriented. Some type of ornamental. Heavy and cuts like cement. I’m letting it dry more to see how far it will open up. I gave up trying to hallow it. I know there are straight lines in crystals, but wood?

Interesting topic. I've always found when hunting or just watching birds etc. to be alert to horizontal movement. Most lines in the woods are vertical. Not related to the split but something about the natural world.
