Taking on my biggest carved turning to date.

Not sure why I pick the big ones for these projects guess I am a gluten for punishment. A couple days ago I started my most complex carving so far after some practice on a scrap board. The hollow form is 14"x10" and the fish are 9" long. Thinking about cleaning up the practice board and framing it for a wall hanger to. Had a couple of firsts. Was my first time drawing a Koi fish google and a couple tutorials helped with that. It was also my first time carving an animal.

Pretty cool. I suggest replacing one of the leaves with an actual water lily flower. Not too hard to carve. I did a couple of Koi carvings on Mahogany as my first carvings too. They were about 16" long, pierced flat work carvings, not on a turning. It was fun. Mounted them on the sides of a Mahogany clothes hamper I made. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I don't think there's enough meat to carve flowers I thought about doing one on the side that had 2 lily pads. I have been in between if I want to carve one from a separate piece of wood and attach it with a mortise and tenon.
