Got back late last night from my first symposium. I learned a lot and spent way to much money. :)

I know that putting on an event like this meant hundreds of hours of planning and legwork for the sponsoring club as well as the AAW staff. My thanks to you all. The event was well organized and very well run.

The instant gallery was fantastic. Hopefully I can improve my skills with some of the things I learned to feel comfortable bringing somthing for the next instant gallery. It was really cool to see such world class work.

Volunteering to be a Demo Assistant was fun and other than putting Richard Raffan completely in the dark for a second (he was not at the lathe) while trying to adjust the lights for him everything went well. All of the turners I helped were very appreciative and approachable.

I also volunteered one shift in the youth room and worked with a very nice young man to turn a baseball bat pen. He improved a lot between pen 1 and pen 2. Also a lot of fun for me.

In all a very enjoyable experience and thanks again for all your hard work.
 
I'd like to add my thanks as well to everyone involved with putting on the symposium. The video has improved by at least an order of magnitude. We owe evryone involved with the planning and execution of this year's event, whether it be staff, board members, demonstrators, vendors and volunteers, a great round of thanks for making it enjoyable for the rest of us!:D
