Well, my favorite is madrone. After that it is a toss up. Big leaf maple can be spectacular, but wants to tear out. Dogwood is wonderful. Myrtle is nice, but here, every one does it. I really wish we had black cherry out here! Can't do walnut any more either.... Tried coconut palm once, and that was enough, but I did buy one piece at a local club auction that was turned end grain and it was nice.

Holy Trinity is an interesting overstatement. With exception to some really soft weed trees, I like all domestic species. I'm a real fan of persimmon, ash, and curly maple. End grain walnut and cherry can be a bit problematic in bowl work.
