Hello everyone, first of all i'd like to say how much i've enjoyed this community and have grown from the information in this forum, so thank you all!
I'm 30 years old, living in rural Saskatchewan. I've been woodworking for about 4 years and been turning for 2. My father in law built a lathe when he was a young man out of farm scrap, and left it in a falling down shed for 30 years. When he heard I was interested in giving turning a shot he dug it out of the shed and gave it to me. After some extensive rehab work, the lathe worked and I was hooked the instant I touched the wood with a chisel. I still currently turn with this homemade lathe, although I'm chomping at the bit to upgrade.
For a day job, I manage a grain shipping facility. My wife is a professional oil painter and I frame all of her work. We are avid gardeners and love nature. In the future, as my shop grows and I get more skilled, I would love to also get into creating wooden instruments such as guitars. This is a lifelong pursuit for me and it's wonderful to have this community to enrich the experience.
