Anyone turned this stuff? What's it like? Any tips on drying it without losing too much to cracks, rotting and the like?

I got some 1 1/2- 2 1/2 inch diameter sticks of it today, freshly cut. I wrapped it in newspaper after painting the ends.

What do you think?
