It’s my honor to select this week’s featured turning and I could not get off this beauty, "Simple Piercing" by Gianni Di Gregorio. The name, Simple Piercing, understates what I see in the fabulous effort. Gianni started with a lovely simple form and then worked some magic on it. Eight plus inches of nicely thin turned wall thickness created a great pallet for a creative piercing pattern. Long straight lines in piercing are always impressive; making them so slim is all the more impressive. The twisting vs the horizontal lines creates the illusion of great motion to my eye…how the heck does it stay vertical adds to the WOW value as well. A great organic color choice for the finish with a lovely blush of red at the rim completes an amazing effort! Well done Gianni!!
