Turning of the week for August 12, 2024

There are so many great turnings as of late, that I wish I could pick a dozen......but, this one by Tom Gall caught my eye. Such great burl figuring in this one. The overall shape and details are very pleasing, as well.

2024 Forum Box Swap

Finial lidded box - 3-1/4” x 4-3/4” h. Eucalyptus Burl, Ziricote accents, Ebony finial, gold paint, Waterlox finish. I’m glad I participated in this swap … forced me to get into the shop again .

Oh boy! I was the lucky recipient of this piece. I wasn't home when it arrived so I had to wait to get a good look at it (my husband sent me photos). It's even better in person. Well Tom......if you're concerned that your status as a TOTW team member means your turning shouldn't be eligible for TOTW, then your turning wasn't chosen for that reason....it stands as a great turning, and that's the only thing I considered when it was chosen.
