My choice for this week's featured turning is @Ric Taylor's Black Ash Burl hollowform. Ric is an extraordinarily talented woodturner, and consistently creates pieces that have wonderful forms and finishes. Many of his pieces are tastefully embellished, and often on the smaller side. This one is neither, and it is glorious. Big and left natural, this hollowform even includes a thin crack/inclusion and some natural edge sections that complement the granite-esque grain. The tiny burl eyes of Black Ash always fascinates me, and this has plenty to ogle. Moreover, the form of this piece is wonderful--a pleasant curve that begins at the well-proportioned opening and disappears as it moves toward the base. Thanks, Ric, for sharing your piece here, as I'm sure it has inspired more than a few people. Cheers!
