When looking for this week’s featured turning, I wanted to choose a turning that was not only well done with great attention to detail, but also one that pushed the boundary of the envelope a bit beyond the norm. Well, when I saw "The Perfect Cast" by Don Frank I knew that was it. This excellent turning by Don clearly ripped that envelope wide open. The combination of turning, carving, coloring creating the image of a pool in a mountain stream, and the attention to detail checked all the boxes for me. In the interest of total transparency, I’ll have to admit that I loved trout fishing in the Pecos and Gila Wilderness areas of New Mexico, not that my decision was consciously influenced in any way by that passion.
