For turning of the week I have chosen Dragon’s Grip by Chris Lawrence. Looking through Chris’s media posts, he has been developing his “dragon scale” embellishment for several pieces, leading up to this perfect execution. I absolutely love the vessel he has created. The proportions are as good as it gets and his choice to continue the curve to a point in the bottom brings the piece to life. The Alternate View shows the complete form of the vessel. Taking it even further by creating a stand that is a dragon’s claw ties the texture to its inspiration and completes the piece.

Nice choice. Wild piece, Chris! I am also a fan of your dragon scale surface treatment. Very cool. Nice choice here, leaving the carved surface of the dragon "hand/foot" bare wood--really has a pad feel.
 
There were some excellent pieces posted this past week that could easily have been selected on another week. Chris' Dragon's Grip is truly exceptional and well deserving of recognition. It's a great and original concept, very well executed, with numerous special features. Congratulations and Thank You! for sharing this with us.
