My choice for TOTW for May 26th, 2025 is My 2nd Basket Illusion" by Maggie Shapirpo.

Although I don’t have the patience or expertise to make basket illusion or segmented pieces I can really appreciate the artistry and the amount of work it takes to make them – especially the well designed ones.

Maggie’s choice of colors and patterns are very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. To me, many B.I. pieces look very mathematical with strong contrasting colors – a good thing. But this piece seems to have very smooth patterns with complementary and blended coloring … almost like looking at a kaleidoscopic image. And the Jasper stone is a nice touch. As I commented before in the Gallery, if this is #2 … I can’t wait to see #10.

I’m pleased to choose Maggie’s piece for her first TOTW. Well done !

Oh my goodness wow thank you so much for this honor! 🥰

I love how the design, especially the triangular sections on the outer edge give it a three-dimensionality, a ‘sphereality’ (is that a word?), which imparts a sense of movement to your piece in this view. Well done!!!
