My selection for the turning of the week of November 7, 2022, is "Spalted Maple Interrupted Torus" by Michael Nathal. The beautiful spalted maple grain patterns are enhanced by the simple, yet elegant shape of the turning. Often turners let shape overshadow the wood's beauty. Michael did not have that problem with this beautiful sculpture. The graceful curved shapes at the top of the turning suggest an uplifting mood enhanced by the vertical grain patterns. Very nice work Michael! You made my selection process easy in choosing your turning for the Turning of the Week.
