I’ve been invited to join the POTW team and I’m excited to choose Paul May’s piece “Slipstream” for this week’s honor. I’ve been a fan of Paul’s work since he started posting several years ago. Paul’s novel segmenting glue ups are already easily recognizable on sight as his signature style…not an easy niche to carve out for yourself. Slipstream checks off all the boxes to my eye. The silhouette of a flawless form greets your eye at first glance. His use of Sapele creates a perfect pallet to present his innovative segmenting detailing. Paul’s ability to create “out of the box” glue ups is nicely represented by his freely placed arrows through the Sapele segments. The lack of alignment to the Sapele segments is striking to my eye and creates a strong image in this great piece. The excellent pattern at the rim excentuates the randomness of the Slipstream arrows. This is segmenting at the cutting edge level….Outstanding effort @Paul May!IMG_4142.jpeg

Congratulations, Paul. Your designs/patterns are always so unique, and this one even more so. Being selected by Russ, our "Chief Segmenter" on the TOTW Team, only affirms the quality and creativity of your work. Good choice, Russ !
