For the Turning of the Week. for January 23, 2023, I selected "Four Play" by John Lucas. This is a lovely, somewhat whimsical piece combining bowls that appear to float while being held aloft by natural-looking structures that probably never existed in nature. The textures and colors contrast each other but come together nicely. When it caught my eye it made me think of bowls, cypress knees, and lily pads. Four bowls were turned from one piece of wood using multiple centers. The bowls are elevated on bent wood laminated pedestals rising from a laminated base. Incredible skill and imagination combined to produce a great piece.

Good choice, Al.
Congrats, John. This is a wonderful and creative piece. I was hoping this piece would still be around when it is my turn to pick the TOTW.

I see something that I'll never be able to create. It is inspiring!

When I first looked at it, I see mushrooms but then with the title I think steel drums.
